SpecArt Spotlight: Flora Silve

Welcome back to our next edition of SpecArt Spotlight, with today’s guest as Flora “Grise” Silve. Flora is a fantastic artist that I’ve worked with before. She was gracious enough to allow me to use her painting Astro Ruins as inspiration for my third #20TweetTales story, Ruins. So, I thought …

SpecArt Spotlight: Niklas Nebelsieck

So… Happy New Year! Seems appropriate to me that my first post of 2020 would be a SpecArt Spotlight. Today, I’m bringing you a great artist straight from Berlin, Germany by the name of Niklas Nebelsieck. As a young artist, Niklas is already on his second career, and from the …

Chapter 1: Get a Job — Chronicles of Tyria

Tide of Shadows is a serial story set in the world of Tyria, from the online MMOs Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. I participated in and won a short story contest in mid 2019 through the fan site, Chronicles of Tyria. CoT is officially sponsored by the game’s developer, ArenaNet, so I thought this was pretty cool. My prize was to be offered a position as one of their writers. And so was born the story of Captain Jos Blackfyre, the captain of the shipping vessel Hiraeth. You can get the latest episodes/chapters over on Chronicles of Tyria. The link below will take you there.

Captain Jos Blackfyre and the crew of the shipping vessel Hiraeth need a job. But, when her First Mate Nexx has a suggestion, she’s not sure that the quick swig of rum she had for breakfast is going to be enough.

A few weeks ago, while browsing ArtStation, Sarper Baran’s piece Portal Forest stuck out and reminded me of the science fiction Stargate franchise. Of course, while the small portal on the shore feels almost peaceful, the larger version up on the mountain comes off as more menacing. So I had …

Glacier, a 20TweetTales Fantasy Story

Haven’t done a 20TweetTales for a little while. Actually wrote Glacier a while ago, just never posted it. This fantasy story was partially inspired, at least thematically, by my most recent playthrough of Diablo 3. If you’ve played the game, you’ll probably pick up on some of those elements. Anyway, …

Queens is a Good, Tension-Filled Follow to Pawns

I’ve always found the mix of science fiction and fantasy to be a little weird. For some reason, including magic in a universe that has space travel just seems incongruent. The exception to this has been Star Wars. I mean, The Force doesn’t really count as magic, does it? Of …
